An Important Message from Superintendent Bahr Regarding 2025 Staffing Decisions and Budget

Dear PSD Families and Staff,

Please see the below statement from Superintendent Krestin Bahr regarding questions surrounding 2025 staffing changes and budget updates.

"Dear PSD Families and Community,

Thank you for your continued engagement and for advocating for our students, staff, schools, and community. I would like to speak directly to our entire Peninsula School District community.

As your Superintendent, I carry a deep responsibility to all 17 schools across our district. My commitment is to every student and every staff member, from our smallest elementary classrooms to our largest comprehensive high schools. Recent discussions in our community have raised important questions about staffing, resource allocation, and leadership changes. Considering these decisions and the concerns they have caused, this speaks to broader district-wide challenges and strategic decisions.

We are in a moment of transformation—not by choice, but by necessity. We face pressures: historic federal funding reductions as pandemic ESSER support sunsets, an underfunded state education system, and enrollment shifts that impact school-based resources. These realities demand fiscal discipline, long-term planning, and a collective focus on student equity. As you saw, we are in sound financial shape, but that is only through the diligent work of many people across the Peninsula School District who make difficult decisions annually to ensure this continues year in and year out."
