We are deeply honored to announce that Crystal Petasek, one of our dedicated school bus drivers, has been selected by the Peninsula School District Board of Directors as the recipient of the 2024-2025 Karin Fellin Award.

The Karin Fellin Award began in 2004 to honor Karin Fellin's outstanding service as executive assistant to the superintendent and board, and previously as office manager for Gig Harbor High School. Karin was universally recognized as someone who consistently went above and beyond for our district, with legendary work and advocacy on behalf of students. This award memorializes Karin's remarkable spirit of giving by annually recognizing someone who, like Karin, quietly and continually goes above and beyond - someone whose work has a profound and positive impact on the lives of our students and community. This is our only recognition that is solely nominated, selected, and awarded by the Peninsula School District Board of Directors.

With 13 years of dedicated service since joining our district in 2012, Crystal exemplifies the spirit of the Karin Fellin Award through her unwavering commitment to students and community.

• Reliability and Excellence: Crystal is known throughout our district for her impeccable attendance record and unwavering reliability. Students and families depend on her every day, knowing they can count on her consistent, caring presence.
• Community Spirit: Beyond her official duties, Crystal actively participates in community service initiatives, including "Stuff the Bus" food and clothing drives. She frequently attends school assemblies on her own time to support the students who ride her bus, showing them they have a consistent and caring figure in their lives.
• Positive Impact: Crystal has built excellent rapport with the families she serves, becoming not just a driver but a trusted friend to many parents and students. Her ability to listen, offer reassurance, and connect with people has made her an invaluable asset to our community.
